Egil A.J. Fischer

Assistant Professor of Infectious Disease Modelling and Veterinary Epidemiology

Dr Egil A.J. Fischer is an assistant professor of Infectious Disease Modelling and Veterinary Epidemiology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Utrecht University, The Netherlands. He is trained in Theoretical Biology (MSc Wageningen University) and Epidemiology (MSc and PhD Erasmus University Rotterdam). In his research, he focuses on the spread of animal infectious diseases and antibiotic resistant microorganism in different animal populations but mainly on livestock. His expertise is dynamic modelling of animal infectious diseases, using a multiplicity of modelling techniques ranging from simple mathematical models, such as ordinary differential equations, to detailed simulations, such as agent-based models. He uses both frequentist and Bayesian methods to parameterize these models.
