Gema Montalvo

Agricultural Engineer 

Gema Montalvo is an Agricultural Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. She has a specialty in Animal Production and also an Agricultural Technical Engineer. She holds a PhD  in Environmental Technology for Sustainable Agriculture from the ETS of Agronomic, Food, and Biosystems Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Madrid. 

She is a member of the Technical Working Group for the revision of the IRPP-BREF as well as the member of the Working Group on Strategies and Review of the Document on Control Techniques for preventing and abating emissions of ammonia: Gothenburg Protocol. She has previous experience in coordinating different projects of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) for the implementation of the Industrial Emissions Directive in the Spanish livestock sector. Since 2012, she has been working at ADA (previously Pig Champ) as Head of the Department of Projects and R&D where she coordinates R&D and Technological Innovation projects, both with private financing and with aid from regional, national, and European public funds. In addition, she is the author of several book chapters related to emissions in swine production.
